The international consulting firm FMHOUSE has been carrying out research in Facility Management for years. It seeks to support and disseminate the discipline through content and reports which are shared openly. The FM Observatory, whose activity falls under the umbrella of the FMHOUSE Institute, was created with this purpose in mind. Training programmes and schemes are also based at the FM Observatory. Since its foundation, dozens of studies and articles have been published and uploaded to our library.
Sharing and cooperating
Our goal has always been to endorse collaboration; therefore we have opened up the possibility for anyone to participate in the work being undertaken at the FM Observatory. With the appointment of a new director in 2020, our intention is to broaden the scope of activities and give our work greater visibility for the benefit of the international community. To this end, the decision has been made to upload all the projects to ResearchGate, from their initial stages until they are published. This inclusion offers a new opportunity for the results to reach professionals around the world.
About ResearchGate
ResearchGate is an online platform which acts as a social network for researchers. It enables institutions and professionals working in different branches of science to collaborate with each other. It helps to source articles in scientific journal from more than 35 million records, forums, discussion groups, and so on. ResearchGate also has an integrated semantic search engine that navigates through the main databases such as PubMed, CiteSeer, arXiv and the NASA Library, among others.
Regarding the FM Observatory
Two of the latest publications have been a wage report, which has been ratified for 2021, and an international study on the degree of FM awareness acquired through the ISO 41000 international standards, which we have co-written. The FM observatory is currently working on several projects to evaluate the maturity of different FM sectors in Latin America, as well as a report which will objectively study office trends in Iberia (Spain and Portugal). The results will be published shortly and uploaded to the FM Observatory website and the ResearchGate platform simultaneously.
