Last Thursday, July 9th, Instituto FMHOUSE launched the report “IWMS Analysis and its Implementation degree in the Spanish Market”, which briefly and with the only purpose of divulgation, showed the implementation degree of Facility Management tools in Spain.
According to the conclusions showed by the analysis done on 137 companies, over 85% of these companies use some kind of FM software in some of their areas, being the Banking and Telecommunications sectors those with the highest implementation degree.
This kind of tools are mostly used in the Maintenance area, while the Energy and Sustainability area is the one that most rarely uses a specific tool, although there is a rising tendency, or so the study shows.
Using IWMS, Facility Managers can have access to information in a centralized and updated way, being able to manage efficiently their buildings and the support services. It must be noticed, however, that when implementing this kind of tools that the main issues users report are the high costs and the team´s dedication needed to feed the system, in addition to the fact that many times the chosen toll is not compatible with other existing tools. To avoid these inconvenience, or part of them in any case, it is very important to do a case study analysis to define the needs of the company and therefore acquire the best tool in the market adapted to the companies real needs. If this is the case, implementing IWMS tools is a great benefit for most FM departments and their daily management.
