It is hard to find a Facility Management department that has its own area within the company’s website. It might be more common amongst Universities’ websites and today we want to share with you the link of Auburn University (United States) Facilities Management department:

The site shows that the department is really customer oriented and it becomes a direct and transparent communication media outlet. The department offers the facility users a clear service list and gives them the channels to request them. The site gathers the department’s policies and communicates the department’s project planning and follow-up. It is even possible to watch the construction works development via webcam. Furthermore, it has its own twitter and facebook profile to make communication more direct.
With a clear web structure, all of this allows the department to reveal itself as a real support to the users and the organization, showing its key role and the added value it provides. It’s no longer enough to do a great job as Facility Managers, it’s also necessary to communicate our work to the rest of the organization. We should take the next step and open our departments in a transparent way to show what we do. This way we’ll be able to get the professional acknowledgement that we are all looking for.
